a good neighborhood restaurant in Lisbon

When I first arrive in a city after traveling for 20 hours — through 8 time zones — the last thing I want is haute cuisine. Tired, jet-lagged, and hungry, all I want is to walk into the neighborhood around my hotel and find a neighborhood restaurant with good, typical food that the locals eat.

If you're staying in Lisbon, I highly recommend O Relicário. Literally around the corner from the Ritz Four Seasons at 35-A Rua Joaquim António Aquiar, this family-run restaurant was exactly what we were looking for — good, simple Portuguese food with friendly, charming service. The gazpacho, served with thin slices of prosciutto, was wonderful and would have been a great dinner in itself. For a main course, we each had grilled lamp chops with french fries — nothing fancy, but flavorful and satisfying. With a glass of the house red wine, the entire bill for two came to 30€. This was exactly the meal I was looking for, and I'm happy to recommend this neighborhood restaurant in Lisbon.

Update: Sunday evening's dinner was at a restaurant recommended by the Concierge at the Four Seasons, a seafood restaurant by the marina, just 10 minutes from the Four Seasons by taxi — Restaurante Doca Peixe. Our meal was excellent, a grilled Golden Bream for two. Cost of our meal, about 60€.
