New Orleans street by night
New Orleans is one of America's fabled cities. Anne, a member of my team, recently visited the Big Easy and has these observations and photos to share.
Gumbo, anyone? Our first goal was to find some good Gumbo. Unfortunately the first Gumbo I sampled was overly … everything. Too much flavor! My mouth was stinging after half a bowl. Leaving the deli, we strolled along St. Charles Ave, enjoying the architecture, eventually joining a Ghost Tour of the city. We heard some legendary stories, the best involving a little 5 year old girl who continues to haunt Sandra Bullock's house.
What about Bourbon Street? One night, we traveled on a dangerously packed and claustrophobia-inducing street car to see Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. Had a great time walking around, people watching, and listening to quirky street musicians. This was much more agreeable than paying to get into a variety of extremely loud and overly crowded clubs. Pictured above is an impressive musician who plays the accordion and sings.
Dark, seedy, sexy, and mixed with voodoo and ghosts, New Orleans has so much to do, see, hear and taste. A fun place to visit!
