Iditarod and Northern Lights Tour

Alaska's Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race... The event's official site offers this description:
It's unlike any other event in the world. A race over 1,150 miles of the most extreme and beautiful terrain... across mountain ranges, frozen rivers, dense forests, desolate tundra and windswept coastline.
Extreme sporting adventure travelers can share in the excitement of the event. The Iditarod and Northern Lights Tour departs on February 27, 2008 and features the great festivals Alaska has to offer in the winter season. The tour features the start of the last "Great Race," the Mushers' Banquet, and a private breakfast with last years' champ Lance Mackey.

From the Iditarod, we head to Fairbanks for the Ice Carving Festival and to Chena Hot Springs for Northern Lights viewing. Our escort provides a unique insight as he has raced sled dogs and holds a Master's degree in natural history.

Quick facts: The tour is ten days and nine nights. It includes nine breakfasts and two dinners, exclusive transfers, escort, private breakfast with Lance Mackey, all admissions, accommodations, and air transportation between Anchorage and Fairbanks. Maximum number of guests is 24. Reserve your place before this exclusive offering sells out.

Cost: $3,299 plus $179 tax per person, double occupancy.
