South American immersion

Are you an adventurer at heart? What would you think of packing up your life for three months next year to live and work for a full month in each of three great cities? It's like the semester abroad you enjoyed in college ... but with definitely more of a luxury touch!
February, 2018 — Buenos Aires, Argentina
March, 2018 — Montevideo, Uruguay
April, 2018 — Santiago, Chile
The best part of any immersion is the chance to get to know a city deeply. You'll have your own luxury apartment near the Plaza San Martin in Buenos Aires, the Punta Carretas neighborhood in Montevideo, and the Providencia community of Santiago. You'll be totally free to explore the neighborhood; get to know its sights and sounds; and experience its restaurants, coffee houses, and night life.

The package also includes office space with WiFi, available to you 24/7. You'll be able to telecommute from South America, working with your clients by phone and email (and they'll never know you're a continent away).

The weekends feature hosted excursions so that you can get to know the culture and history of each city and the surrounding country. Click for what you can look forward to in Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and Santiago.

Here's what's included in your three month sojourn.
  • Private luxury accommodations with bedroom, bathroom, and kitchenette
  • 24/7 remote workspace with wifi
  • Weekly inside access activities exploring the highlights of the area
  • Transportation between countries (flights, ferries, and transfers)
  • Dedicated Brownell host
  • Gratuities for all included activities and transfers
  • Travel Insurance

  • International flights to the starting destination and home from the ending destination are excluded, as are meals and spa days.

    don't cry for me, Argentina

Sadly, my trip to Argentina was cancelled last minute. Literally the last minute. My driver to SFO was about to head to my house, and I had to make a "go" or "no go" decision without workable flight plans ... so I chose "no go."

As you may have heard, the Calbuco Volcano in neighboring Chile erupted for the first time in 40 years, spewing clouds of volcanic ash high into the atmosphere and disrupting air traffic into Chile and Argentina. My Delta flight from ATL to Buenos Aires was cancelled this morning, and the alternatives that Delta offered didn't work. (My SFO-ATL flight was on a separate itinerary from the ATL-EZE flight, so this wasn't Delta's fault).

So don't cry for me, Argentina. We'll just have to do it another time.

Argentina, still on my bucket list...

I'm returning to South America tomorrow (for the second time — my previous visit was to Chile). Traveling with colleagues from Brownell Travel, I'm excited to be exploring a completely new destination (for me). Here's our itinerary:

Saturday and Sunday - La Bamba de Areco
Activities include a visit the town of Areco, a gaucho skills show, and a folk show at our final dinner. Here's a video of La Bamba... looks beautiful and wonderfully relaxing.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday - Four Seasons Buenos Aires
We will get a chance to tour Buenos Aires, and there's a full day visit planned to the town of Tigre and the ParanĂ¡ Delta. During my three days in Buenos Aires, I will have a chance to do site inspections of the Four Seasons, Park Hyatt Palacio Duhau, and Alvear Palace. Watch here for my reports from Argentina!
